The Sheep Center provides animals for teaching and Extension purposes in genetics, nutrition and reproduction. The sheep are used in eight to 10 courses throughout the academic year and in judging contests and clinics. And don’t worry, you don’t have to pronounce the word “gyro” right to spend time here.
The Swine Center houses 100 females for farrowing, grower-finish facilities for 300 animals and nursery facilities for up to 450 animals. The show pig litters are used mainly for teaching and Extension. The main sow herd is used for grower-finish trials and for research on nutrition and reproductive physiology.
