Students at the Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park pursue a range of ecological research, from populations to ecosystems to landscapes. The facility provides a unique opportunity for both student training and community service. It plays an essential role in developing science-based solutions to issues related to water.
The 52-acre site lies just north of Ohio State’s Columbus campus. It’s adjacent to the Olentangy River. It has two experimental wetland basins, an oxbow wetland, a bottomland hardwood forest and more. It also has the Heffner Teaching and Research Building, with labs, a classroom and meeting space.
